Ridgefield Police were called to a retail shop at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday on word someone was taking things from the store without paying for them. Police said when they arrived store staff told them they saw a woman taking from the store. Police charged Irene Burgess, 50, Twixt Hills Road, Ridgefield, with sixth-degree larceny, a misdemeanor summons. She is scheduled to answer the charge in Danbury Superior Court on Nov. 20.
Ridgefield Police provided this information. A person charged with a crime is innocent until having been convicted in court.
