Ridgefield Town And School Budget Referendum Is Tuesday

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Residents will vote Tuesday on town, school and debt service spending plans totaling over $151 million.

The town budget vote for an appropriation of $48,039,803 covers operating expenditures of $38,250,135 and debt service of $9,789,668 on both Town and Education capital projects.

Voters will color in a separate oval to pass judgement on the Board of Education budget of $102,260,087.

Additional votes will be cast for the appropriation of $1,066,426 for the planning, design, acquisition and construction of various town road and infrastructure improvements. Other resolutions needing resident approval include sidewalk improvements, upgrades to the Norwalk River Valley Trail, turf replacement at Scotts Ridge and Tiger Hollow fields, body cameras for the police, and school infrastructure renovations. If approved, the new spending plans would increase the mill rate by 0.32 percent, adding about $40 to a yearly property tax bill of $13,000, beginning July 1.

The referendum will be held Tuesday at East Ridge Middle School from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
