Video Captures Sudden Storm, Transformer Explosion in Ridgefield

Ridgefield resident Alison Mosimann shot the video footage below of Wednesday’s sudden, severe thunderstorm, which brought down rain, hail and more than a few electrical wires.

While filming from the covered entrance to Walgreens on Danbury Road, Mosimann captured a flash of blue light from a transformer exploding and later zooms in as sparks continue to fly.

The 1:50-minutes video also shows the intensity of the storm as heavy rain and hail peppers the parking lot. Watch below or on YouTube.

Connecticut Light & Power crews worked to restore power to residents Wednesday night and there were no more outages reported as of Thursday morning.
