Windy Storm Passes Through Town with Few Outages

Ridgefield was left relatively unscathed as an ominous-looking storm whipped through town for nearly the entire day yesterday.

Mostly, the town saw high winds and rain turning into sporadic, but rather short, downpours. While the wind was enough to make the streets clear of cars—but scattered with bits of debris—it was not enough to strike out electricity for most residents.

Power outages climbed slowly throughout the day, fluctuating frequently but also remaining below 10 percent, except for about half an hour between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., where outages peaked at 13 percent before dipping back down to eight percent at 7:50 p.m according to CL&P’s outage map. At 10:45 p.m. last night, only four percent of Ridgefielders were without power.
