Bear May Have Entered Simsbury Home

State officials responded after a report that a bear had entered a home.

SIMSBURY, CT — A bear may have entered a Simsbury home around 4 p.m. Saturday, according to FOX 61. The state Department of Energy & Environmental Protection said that Environmental and Conservation Police responded to the report regarding a bear entering a home.

The Woodchuck Hill Road home is being remodeled and the owners were in the area and made the report. A responding state officer saw the bear in the woods outside the home, FOX 61 reported.

The bear was "hazed" in order for it to leave the area. Hazing a bear can involve using loud noises, non-injurious projectiles, and other methods of scaring the animals.
