Wellman is the mouth piece for Town Manager Maria Capriola although the Board of Selectmen should be the legislative body. The Board of Selectmen meeting should be conducted by the Board not Town Manager Maria Capriola who controls the narrative with the consent of the Selectmen.

Wellman states, “I will continue to champion issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion so that we are leveraging the incredible talent that is within our community.”
This is just political talk not reality.
Town Manager Maria Capriola and the Board of Selectman are acting like children by building their non-inclusive sand box with their policies while people with diverse opinions cannot enter. There is no room for diverse opinions in this administration.
By allowing Town Manager Maria Capriola to usurp the powers of the Board of Selectmen, they have condoned her actions by placing their heads in the sand and ignoring the fact that they are complicit in Town Manager Maria Capriola’s actions.
Town Manager Maria Capriola is a bully and a control freak with policies that undermine the Simsbury community.

When I asked for salaries of Town employees, I was told all inquiries must go through the Town Manger’s Office as an FOI request. I was told through an email, November 15, 2019 that all inquiries must go through the Town Manager’s Office. It states. “We (Town Manager Maria Capriola)_ like to have a complete documentation of all information requests to the Town. “
Town Manager Maria Capriola requires all inquiries through Freedom of Information requests, even something as mundane as a salary that would take minutes to obtain now takes staff hours of complying with FOI requests.
Frist Selectman Eric Wellman wrote that he will continue to pledge to continue to lead in a bi-partisan manner that puts the good of the town above any individual or political party.

The Simsbury Police Department has received body cameras for the Officers months ago. The consultant said they are ready to be installed and the delay is due to implementation of the policy.
The Police Department has been directed to increase traffic enforcement. Body cameras protect the Police Officers against frivolous claims and all interactions with the public.
The distribution of body cameras to all Police Officers should be priority one. What is taking so long?
According to the Police Department there were 138-gun permits approved in 2020
2021 to May there were 119 gun permits approved, which will double the amount from 2020.

Alcoholic beverages are allowed on all Town property with the exception of the Simsbury School property and Town buildings.
Most recreational areas in Simsbury, including the golf course allows the consumption of alcohol and carrying a gun with a permit.
With an increase in family violence, suicides, alcoholism and mental health issues, should the Board of Selectmen regulate alcohol consumption and carrying a gun on Town property?
Is the Town covered for these liabilities?
