Candidates Joining Race for Simsbury First Selectman

Two Simsbury residents are joining the race for Simsbury First Selectman, reports the Hartford Courant.

Joan Coe and Robert Kalechman will be up against Democratic First Selectman Lisa Heavner and Republican nominee Phil Purciello.

Coe has been around for over 40 years and raised four children that went through Simsbury public schools. She was also a substitute teacher in the district. A tennis instructor, she created a tennis program for special needs children through Favarh, the ARC of the Farmington Valley.

Before moving to Simsbury, Kalechman was a justice of the peace and a constable in West Hartford. He was also a sergeant in the Marines during the Korean War.
