Chopper to Be Used For Power Line Inspections In Simsbury

SIMSBURY, CT — Eversource Energy will be conducting aerial inspections of high-voltage electrical equipment along several rights of way in Connecticut this month and those in Simsbury are on the list.

The aerial inspections are scheduled to start Aug. 13 and continue through Aug. 31.

Weather-permitting, flights will take place from 8 a.m. to and 4 p.m. along the utility rights of way in town, Eversource officials said.

Utility officials said, the semi-annual inspection program is, "an important part of the company’s ongoing commitment to providing reliable electric service."

The work involves the use of a helicopter equipped with heat-sensing, infrared scanning technology that can detect potential equipment issues before they occur, utility officials said.

The helicopter is blue and silver and has the tail No. N1431W, according to Eversource officials.
