Patch caught up with Peter Snow, agency manager at Hoffman Insurance Agency of Connecticut, to learn more about the agency and their upcoming events:

Patch: How long have you been doing business in town?

Snow: Hoffman Auto Group has been a family-owned business for nearly 100 years, adding the insurance agency in 2017.

Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?

Snow: Thirty-four years ago, I was recruited by a friend of my parents and here I am still enjoying what I do: helping protect what's important in individuals' and families' lives in case the unexpected happens.

Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?

Snow: “Take care of the customer!”

Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?

Snow: The insurance industry is evolving rapidly. Adapting to the ever-changing market can be challenging, including new technologies that are being brought to market. For example, Telematics can capture and process your driving data, which in the future will be the primary driver of insurance pricing.

Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?

Snow: The most satisfying part of my job is the friends I have made over the past 34 years. Insurance is a people business that helps rebuild lives when the unexpected happens. I love that feeling of being able to offer some comfort in a tough time.

Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?

Snow: At the Hoffman Insurance Agency, the customer is our first priority. Surveys are sent out to customers with tremendous responses that are positive about the agency and staff. This really sets us apart from other insurance agencies.

Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?

Snow: The best piece of career advice actually came from my spouse 29 years ago when she said to me, “Earn peoples’ trust with kindness,” and that “new opportunities and cooperation will always be there!”

Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?

Snow: Hoffman Insurance Agency and Hoffman Auto Group have a few exciting community events coming up. Now through Aug. 15, we are collecting school supplies for United Way’s Stuff the Bus. All donations can be dropped off at any Hoffman showroom, located in Watertown, East Hartford, New London and on the Avon/Canton line now through Aug. 15, or donations can be made directly through United Way’s website. Additionally, the 8th Annual Hoffman East Hartford Blood Drive is taking place at Hoffman Audi on Aug. 19. Appointments can be made online at redcrossblood.org with the sponsor code HoffmanCares.
