Local Musician Shares Connection with Martin Luther King
Fiddler Gordon Swift will perform songs from diverse cultures and share stories of his family connection with MLK

On Sunday, January 19 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, the Storyteller’s Cottage will host a unique concert by the Lost Acres String Duo, featuring fiddler Gordon Swift and guitarist Paul Howard. In the spirit of diversity, the afternoon will include songs from a variety of cultures, and Gordon will share stories of his family connection with Martin Luther King.
Gordon Swift’s father, David Swift, was a professor of religion at Wesleyan University in the 1960’s. In 1961 he joined the Freedom Riders on their quest to desegregate interstate bus travel, and was arrested in Montgomery, Alabama. Gordon will speak more about his father’s civil rights work during the concert.
