Pedestrians Struck By Car In Simsbury Identified [UPDATED]
Two people were injured when they were struck by a car while crossing Route 10 Wednesday night.

SIMSBURY, CT — Two pedestrians were struck by a car on Hopmeadow Street Wednesday night, directly in front of the building which houses town offices and the police department.
The pedestrians, identified by police as a married couple, have been identified as Nicholas Volpe, 27, and his wife Svenja, 28. They were crossing Route 10 in a crosswalk around 6:20 p.m. when they were struck. Nicholas Volpe was transported to Hartford Hospital via Lifestar medical helicopter, while Svenja was brought via ambulance to Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Lt. Frederick Sifodaskalakis said.
The operator of the car has been identified as Stephen Sanady, 64, of Simsbury. He is cooperating with the investigation, and no charges have been filed, Sifodaskalakis said.

The collision remains under investigation by members of the Simsbury Police Department, assisted by officers of the North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad.
Rt 10 is closed from Plank Hill Road to Iron Horse Blvd due to an accident in front of the Town Hall. It will be closed for several hours. Detour via Iron Horse Blvd.
