The Simsbury Crew spring competition season has come to a close. All boats took to the water for their final race against Farmington on Saturday May 29, 2021. It was a tough and rainy day, but boys and girls novice came away with victory. All our boats competed well. In true Simsbury crew form, the rain didn't dampen our amazing athletes' spirits.
Saturday's race not only marked the end of the spring season, but it also sadly closed SHS Crew for our seniors. Although all participants of the crew team should be celebrated, the seniors deserve a special shout out. They are the backbone of the team. They are teachers and friends. They are the organization's leaders who respectfully and eagerly pass on the long-standing traditions and philosophy of SHS crew. During this challenging and uncertain pandemic year, these seniors continued to not only show up at practice, but to encourage their teammates to keep up their spirits. They passed on the torch of the true meaning of crew: perseverance with dignity!
Congratulations to our seniors: Benjamin Antonetti, Reed Bluestein, Ethan Boyd, Cael DiMascio, Grey DiMascio, Christopher Norwell, Madison Allen, Gabrielle Budlong, Rachel Coppinger, Katherine Costello, Morgan de Groot, Emily Goodwin, Olivia May, and Stella Perdikis.
