Simsbury High School Commends Scholars

This fall, Principal Neil Sullivan hosted a reception for Simsbury High School’s National Merit Commended Scholars and Semi-Finalists. Parents, grandparents, and staff were in attendance. 

Simsbury High School semi-fianalists are: Jessica Lipponen, John Polizzi, and Matthew Shaw. These three will continue in the NMSC scholarship competition. 

Simsbury High School Commended Scholars are: Hayley Aubin, Eric Barch, Nancy Fu, Kevin Gyurco, Chandler Henning, Samuel Kyzivat, Patrick Long, Kelly McAlpine, Jacqueline Meyer, Eduardo Rosadio, Maxwell Turpin, and Amber Wilkes.

Commended Scholars received a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, and the National Merit Semi Finalists received Certificates of Recognition from Simsbury High School. 

Over 1.5 million students took the 2012 PSAT last October entering them into the National Merit Program. Of these, 50,000 students nationwide are identified to their high schools. Only 16,000 of these, nationwide, are selected as National Merit Semi-Finalist.
