Simsbury Police Chief Asks For Sergeant to Be Terminated
He made a recommendation to the police commission to fire the sergeant following a 5-month investigation into his conduct.

SIMSBURY, CT — A lengthy meeting of the Simsbury Police Commission Tuesday resulted in a recommendation by Chief Nicholas Boulter that Sgt. Jason Trombly's employment be terminated, the Hartford Courant reported.
Following a 5-month investigation into claims that Trombly had secretly recorded conversations with superior officers, including Boulter himself, the chief sent a lengthy report to commission members recommending Trombly's firing. Trombly only admitted to compiling written notes following those conversations, and Boulter demanded the notes be provided to him during his investigation.
Attorney Jeffrey Ment, representing Trombly, claimed his client's due process was violated by Boulter conducting an investigation into a matter in which he was directly involved. He suggested an outside agency should have been brought in to handle the internal investigation.
