Simsbury Restaurant Among 100 Most Romantic In America: OpenTable

SIMSBURY, CT — As Valentine's Day approaches, many Connecticut residents may find themselves scrambling to find the perfect place to take their loved one out for a romantic dinner. While the state is certainly not short on options when it comes to both fine dining and romantic hideaways, those seeking the best of the best may want to consider making a trip to Simsbury.

Online restaurant reservation service company OpenTable has compiled a list of the 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America for 2019, one of which is located in Connecticut. The website lists Millwright's Restaurant and Tavern in Simsbury as its sole choice for romantic dining in Connecticut.

According to OpenTable, the list is based on "an analysis of 12,000,000+ reviews of more than 28,000 restaurants across the country — all submitted by verified diners."

Located at 77 West Street, Millwright's overlooks the perfect backdrop for any romantic night out: a "sparkling pond and rushing waterfall, visible from the dining room and the deck," according to the restaurant's website. For those seeking a more casual atmosphere that still holds plenty of romantic charm, the restaurant also has a cozy basement tavern, which serves upscale bar food and is open nightly.

Also offered is the third floor loft area that overlooks the falls. Complete with private bathrooms and an open demo kitchen, the loft offers the "perfect setting for intimate dinners, bridal and baby showers, weddings and parties."

The menu consists of starters such as Salmon Rillette, Foie Gras, Beef Tartare and Chestnut Soup, and entrees such as Chicken, Lamb, Pork Loin, NY Strip, Swordfish and Quail among other tempting offerings. Millwright's also offers an extensive list of beers, wines and cocktails to pair with your dinner.

Those thinking of dining at Millwright's between Feb. 14 and 16 will be able to enjoy a Valentine's Day Prix Fixe menu only offered in the dining room. The tavern menu will still be available in the tavern.

Millwright's opens at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and at 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. They also offer a Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Check the restaurant's website for more information on dining options and the Valentine's Day Prix Fixe menu.
