Simsbury Runner Claims Championship At Indoor Track State Open
The Trojans had an individual champion crowned at Saturday's State Open at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

NEW HAVEN, CT — The Floyd Little Athletic Center on the campus of Hillhouse High School was abuzz with excitement Saturday afternoon, as three new records were established in the State Open indoor track and field championships.
Tess Stapleton of Fairfield Ludlowe erased the record for the 55 meter hurdles that had stood for more than two decades. She crossed the finish line in 8.04 seconds, topping the 8.11 mark set by Keisha Houghton of Hillhouse in 1999.
Gavin Sherry of Conard destroyed the former record in the 3200 meter run by more than 13 seconds, finishing in 8:54.47. The former mark of 9:07.63 had been run by Christian Alvarado of Fairfield Prep in 2014.
