Snow Expected For Friday Commute In Hartford/Tolland Counties

Northern Connecticut is going to see accumulating snow for the evening commute. Here's how much and when to expect the worst of it.

It's not going to be a significant snow event at all, but the timing couldn't be worse. Light snow is expected to be falling during the evening commute, which could make travel very slick. Hartford and Tolland counties may see an inch of snow.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said, "Pretty sudden change to the forecast for Friday evening. Once again light and fluffy but will be a pain for the PM commute."

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, "snow is the headline for later this afternoon and evening. Another Dusting to around 2" expected but the timing STINKS!"

Here is the updated weekend weather forecast for northern Connecticut via the National Weather Service:

Today: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph.

Tonight: Snow likely, mainly before 11pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 20. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34. Southwest wind 6 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 17. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 32. Light and variable wind.

Sunday Night: A chance of snow, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
