Connecticut Weather: Snow Squalls Today, Another Storm Next Week?

We just can't get a break from the weather lately and there is a chance for another snowstorm next week too.

A Special Weather Statement and Hazardous Weather Outlook have been issued for Connecticut on Wednesday for the chance of snow squalls that could produce brief periods of heavy snow this afternoon. The snow squalls will be hit-and-miss across Connecticut. There is also concern this morning that the sub-freezing temps will make roads icy this morning, the National Weather Service says.

And, in the we're not kidding category, there is a chance for another coastal storm next week, likely Tuesday night into next Wednesday. More snow is possible. But that is still a week away.

As for the present, for inland sections of Fairfield, New Haven, and Middlesex counties, "Scattered snow showers late this afternoon into this evening may be briefly heavy, resulting in reduced visibilities and slick road conditions during the evening commute."

For Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties, "Snow squalls and brief heavy snow showers are possible across most of Southern New England late this afternoon and overnight. A very quick coating to up to 3 inches of snow are possible in these squalls. These showers and squalls will lead to rapidly changing driving conditions, with slippery roads, reduced visibility and gusty winds."

For all of Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London counties, the weather service says, that "Sub freezing temperatures this morning will result in icy conditions on untreated surfaces. Be alert for these icy spots during the early morning commute."

And a Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for Litchfield County for "Occasional snow showers and flurries will continue through the day. A dusting up to two inches of new snow accumulation is possible through the day. Some surfaces will continue to be slick."

And here the discussion begins about more snow next week.
