Students and Families Collect Over 300 Sandwiches for Needy

The Cobb School's Community Outreach Committee Thrilled by Outpouring of Support

World Food Day is October 16, 2018. World Food Day is a day of action dedicated to tackling global hunger. The Cobb School, Montessori in Simsbury, chose to act a few days early. On Friday Oct. 12, The Cobb School community made sandwiches for those in need in the Hartford area. Cobb Parent Association Community Outreach Chair, Lucia Rome said, "We are so grateful to all our Cobb families who made sandwiches for those in need at the ImmaCare shelter. Our goal was 80 sandwiches - we collected 354!!!"

ImmaCare’s fridge was overflowing from the delivered abundance, so 100 sandwiches were brought over to a sister shelter across the street. Both shelters were incredibly appreciative.

Next up, The Cobb School will be collecting candy for Operation Gratitude. November 11th is Veteran's Day, a day in which our nation honors the men and women who have served our country in the military. Students donate some of their Halloween treats to soldiers. We will also be collecting candy at several local grocery stores. Keep an eye out for the Operation Gratitude bins. Cobb students often include a "Thank you" card to our service men and women.
