Young Bookworms are Invited to Join Lit Chicks

Growing up female in 2020 presents a myriad of challenges unknown to previous generations. On Fridays in March, Miranda Wheeler will run a new female empowerment club for teen girls at the Storyteller’s Cottage. Lit Chicks: Finding Your Power Through Writing begins March 6, from 7:00-8:30 pm. The cost is $20 per meeting, or $70 for all four meetings, and spots can be reserved at https://www.storytellerscottage.com/book-online.

Teenage girls often feel self-conscious, apprehensive, and even powerless. Luckily, the Storyteller’s Cottage has devised a method to harness the magical power of words to inspire, empower, and embolden young women. Lit Chicks is an enchanting circle of bibliophiles aged 12-17 who will explore thought-provoking excerpts from female writers, examine their own fears and doubts, and learn to find their own strength and determination through guided journaling, poetry writing, and targeted letter-writing (such as writing letters to their older selves). Both the written word and the words they write will kindle the flames of courage, spirit, and self-confidence that will become the first step on an amazing journey toward self-actualization and a purpose-driven life.

The Storyteller’s Cottage is located in a vintage Victorian house in the center of historic Simsbury, CT, and hosts all manner of immersive literary events throughout the year, including Agatha Christie inspired live murder mystery parties, Great Gatsby themed Jazz Supper Clubs, fascinating close-up illusions at Fine Parlor Magic nights, a Literary Dinner Party series on select evenings at midnight, and more.
