Imposing Southington Estate Hitting the Auction Block

The sale of the 8,049-square-foot mansion was announced on Wednesday.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Want to own one of the town's most unique properties? A 9.36-acre, British-style estate will sell to the highest bidder later this month through New York City-based Concierge Auctions.

The scheduled Sept. 30 auction will take place via the firm’s Instant Gavel mobile app, Concierge representatives said Wednesday.

The estate at 340 Winding Ridge features custom finishes both inside and out including aged Virginia brick exterior and beveled Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors, according to the listing.

The four-bedroom, eight-bathroom residence features a two-story family room, floor-to-ceiling windows, and French doors leading to a granite in-laid swimming pool and spa with a sauna and steam room, according to the listing.

The home, designed by award-winning Soyster and Taylor, is a past winner of “Best Custom Library” and “Overall Best Custom Home” from the Home Builders Association of Connecticut.

The English estate spans 8,049 square feet, including a finished basement, according to the listing.

The seller, Richard Fedor, is a gaming tech entrepreneur, who is the founder of GameFission and previously served as a senior executive at Hewlett Packard and GTE, and executive vice president at International Game Technology – which developed much of the slot machine technology seen in today’s casinos, according to the listing.

He was also the founder and CEO of GameTech International, according to the listing.

Previously listed for $3.69 million, the property will sell at or above the $1.9 million reserve in cooperation with Ed Robertson of Coldwell Banker Premiere Realtors, according to the listing.

Richard Fedor, said a large part of the estate’s appeal is its multiple uses.

“The location of our home, which is basically equidistant between Boston and New York City, makes it an ideal family compound or corporate retreat,” he said. “I’ve had many business dealings here in the years since we’ve owned the property, and I’ve always been proud to share it with both friends and colleagues.

Fedor said he plans to head back full-time to his Florida residence.

"As we move on to spend more time at our main home in Florida, I will remember our time here fondly," he said. "We wish the new owners well. It truly is an incredible estate.”
