Owner of Southington Estate Has 'Mixed Emotions' About Auction
The imposing home can be had for "a bargain."
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Richard Fedor had mixed emotions when he woke up Friday morning.
He was almost an entire coastline away in Florida, but he was thinking about Southington and the imposing, custom mansion and estate he fashioned out of creativity and passion.
The 9.36-acre, British-style estate is set to go on the auction block Friday.

"Oh yes it really and truly is a day like that," Fedor said. "I worked with architects and contractors from start-to-finish for a little more than two years. It cost me about $8.2 million to build, but it was worth it. Art first, it was a place for business meetings, but it became the place to be for the family. On the weekends, we typically had at least 20 people at the house."
Fedor is a gaming tech entrepreneur among whose accomplishments is inventing the cashless slot machines that work off tickets instead of coins spilling all over the place. He said he chose Southington for the local schools.

But his son has moved to the Las Vegas area to be closer to the action and his daughter seems to have settled in New York City.
Then his wife "fell in love with Florida," he said.
So (with a sigh) he said he is putting the Southington estate up for auction with a minimum bid of $1.9 million, an amount representing the reserve fund for the parcel.
The house could be a "bargain" at that price Fedor said.
New York City-based Concierge Auctions.
The scheduled Sept. 30 auction will take place via the firm’s Instant Gavel mobile app, Concierge representatives said Wednesday.
The estate at 340 Winding Ridge features custom finishes both inside and out including aged Virginia brick exterior and beveled Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors, according to the listing.
The four-bedroom, eight-bathroom residence features a two-story family room, floor-to-ceiling windows, and French doors leading to a granite in-laid swimming pool and spa with a sauna and steam room, according to the listing.
The home, designed by award-winning Soyster and Taylor, is a past winner of “Best Custom Library” and “Overall Best Custom Home” from the Home Builders Association of Connecticut.
The English estate spans 8,049 square feet, including a finished basement, according to the listing.
“The location of our home, which is basically equidistant between Boston and New York City, makes it an ideal family compound or corporate retreat,” he said. “I’ve had many business dealings here in the years since we’ve owned the property, and I’ve always been proud to share it with both friends and colleagues.
Three great features, he said, are two kitchens — one for caterers and another for the family — along with an 11-seat theater and a pool with a watefall.
