One of the injured people had to be extricated from a vehicle, a Stratford fire official said.

STRATFORD, CT — Three people were taken to the hospital in connection with a crash mid-day Tuesday on Interstate 95, according to officials.

The two-vehicle accident was reported just after noon between Exits 31 and 30, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The victims suffered minor to moderate injuries, Stratford Fire Department Assistant Chief Michael Camperlengo said, adding one of the injured people had to be extricated from a vehicle.

The interstate's left and center southbound lanes were closed as of about 12:30 p.m., and there was congestion in the area, but Camperlengo said traffic had cleared up about an hour after the crash.
