Roads Flooded In Stratford, Swimming Areas Closed: Officials

Officials are advising motorists of flooded areas throughout town.

STRATFORD, CT — Several areas are flooded throughout Stratford and officials are advising residents to use caution.

“Our region continues to experience storm conditions and heavy rainfall,” Mayor Laura Hoydick wrote in a post on Facebook. “Flooding is reported at various locations throughout town and motorists should exercise caution. There remains a high risk of hydroplaning.”

A flash flood warning remains in effect for the area until 11:45 a.m.

Police are advising motorists of heavy rainfall in “low-lying areas.”

“Be EXTREMELY cautious if you see water over the road (it may be deeper than you think) and AVOID it if possible,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “All viaducts in town are flooding at this point and are NOT safe to drive through.”

Stratford Swimming Areas Closed

Due to rainfall exceeding the closure criteria, Stratford swimming areas will be closed Friday, July 9 through Sunday, July 11.

“With more rain in the forecast, they may be closed longer,” Hoydick said. “Testing will resume Monday July 12th.”
