3,000-Mile 'One Run for Boston' Hits Stratford Saturday

The non-stop, cross-country relay will pass through Stratford on June 29. There is still time to sign up for the 8.9-mile Bridgeport to Milford leg.

Connecticut residents can join the show of solidarity by runners from across the United States this weekend, when the One Run Boston relay hits the state.

One Run Boston began on June 7 in Los Angeles. Runners signed up to carry a baton through various "stages" of the 3,000-mile cross-country relay. The run will end at the Boston Marathon finish line on Sunday, June 30.

The baton made it to Ohio Monday. So far One Run Boston has raised more than $64,000 to benefit those affected by the Boston Marathon bombings.

There is still space for runners to sign up for 13 stages in Connecticut -- each stage covers 7 to 11 miles. The Stratford leg of the race is 8.89 miles and will take runners on Stratford Avenue to Ferry Boulevard to Route 1.

There are currently five runners signed up for the Bridgeport to Milford leg of the 3,000-mile relay: Kelly Gallagher, Jennifer Iaccarino, Annie Shay, Shannon Vicente and Sheila Cardell.
