Animal Activists Object to Stratford's Plan to Eliminate Beavers
Traps have been set up at Pumpkin Ground Brook in Roosevelt Forest.

STRATFORD, CT - The town's plan to trap and kill beavers at Pumpkin Ground Brook in Roosevelt Forest is not sitting well with animal rights supporters.
Members of Fairfield County Animal Activists are planning a demonstration tonight, March 14, before the Town Council meeting in Town Hall to voice their displeasure with the plan, reports the Connecticut Post.
Officials launched the trapping effort to help mitigate flooding problems at homes near the forest.
Additionally, the activists intend to address the practice by speaking during the public comment portion of the council meeting. Organizers realize that some beavers may already have been trapped and killed, but they told the Post that they hope to thwart future killings.
Tonight's Town Council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Stratford Town Hall. The demonstration is scheduled to take place at 6 p.m.
