STRATFORD, CT — Welcome to 2020, where everything is different as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic — and that includes pumpkin patches.

The pandemic means many of the area's pumpkin patches have had to make significant adjustments to hours, regulations and activities as they head into fall.

Thankfully, the coronavirus has only changed — not completely closed — your favorite pumpkin patch and its offerings this fall.

Below is a list of some of our favorite pumpkin patches near Stratford:

  • Filanowski Farms, 389 Wheelers Farms Road, Milford. Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. "Our pumpkin patch is bountiful from the harvest and ready for your pickin's."
  • Robert Treat Farm, 1339 New Haven Ave., Milford. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
  • Plasko's Farm, 670 Daniels Farm Road, Trumbull. Open Monday through Friday, noon to 9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. "Fall is one of our favorite seasons! Whether you are looking for a pumpkin to carve, decorate, or eat, you will find what you are looking for at Plasko's. The farm also fully stocks a variety of squash, gourds, Indian corn, cornstalks and many more fall decorative accessories."
  • Jones Family Farms, 606 Walnut Tree Hill Road, Shelton. Weekend pumpkin picking starts Sept. 26; reservations required. Weekday visits start Sept. 28; reservations required.
  • Sunflower Farm of Orange, 767 Derby Milford Road. Open Monday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Treat Farm, 361 Old Tavern Road, Orange. According to their website, "Come fall time, the farm comes alive with holiday decorations grown on site. Pumpkins, gourds, cornstalks and mums are available in many different varieties to make sure we get you what you need for decorating in Autumn. ... Treat Farm has been creating unique corn mazes each year that bring out the kid in all of us. A visit after Labor Day isn't complete until you tackle our 5-acre maze. You can make it even more challenging if you would like by trying one of our nighttime flashlight mazes."
  • Silverman's Farm, 451 Sport Hill Road, Easton. Open seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. "Residents from the tri-state area have been coming to the farm for many years to win a free pumpkin! Before purchase, every customer may guess the weight of each pumpkin before being brought to the scale. If the guess is within 2 ounces either way, the pumpkin is free regardless of size. We give away thousands of free pumpkins each year!"
  • Warrup's Farm, 11 John Read Road, Redding. "Join us weekends in October for pick-your-own pumpkins as we celebrate the harvest. Visit Facebook for the latest updates."
  • Castle Hill Farm, 25 Sugar Lane, Newtown. Maze and pumpkin picking starts Sept. 26. "As things will run by reservation only this year, which is a change for us all, please be patient as we finalize all details.
