Eagle Scout Ranks Awarded

2 Local scouts earned scouting's highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout.

Last night, two young men were awarded Scouting’s highest Honor, the rank of Eagle Scout. Family, friends and honored guests celebrated the special ceremony at the Stratford VFW Post 9460. Jovan Zayas and Everal C. Wallen from Boy Scout Troop 75 earned what less than 4 percent of Scouts in this country strive to achieve in their young lives. The Scouts have a combined total of 76 merit badges, hundreds of hours of community service, and an extensive amount of special skills and training from their many years in scouting.

Special commendations and citations were received and presented to them for their accomplishment, some of which included certificates from Senator Richard Blumenthal, Congressman Jim Himes, Stratford Councilman Christopher Pia, the Masonic Scouters Association, the Bridgeport fire department, Daniel Routhier Dean of Student Life at Kolbe Cathedral High School, BSA CT Yankee Council Commissioner Kathy Dilks, and Mayor Joe Ganim, who was there to present to the Eagle scouts a special commendation from him and the city of Bridgeport.
