Fire, Diesel Leak On I-95 After Truck Accident: Stratford Marshal

One of the trucks had a ruptured tank leaking diesel fuel and the other — which was transporting beer — was on fire.

STRATFORD, CT — Two semitrailers were involved in an accident Wednesday on Interstate 95 that included a fire and a diesel leak.

Emergency personnel responded just after 6:30 a.m. to the scene at Exit 32 of northbound I-95, according to a news release from Stratford Fire Marshal Robert Daniel. Upon arrival, they found one of the trucks in the breakdown lane with a ruptured tank leaking diesel fuel. About 75 yards away, the cab of the second truck — which was transporting beer — was on fire.

Firefighters used two hose lines and an aerial ladder to bring the blaze under control in about 20 minutes. They also addressed the fuel leak, about which state environmental officials were notified. No one was injured in the incident.
