Free Blood Pressure Screenings: Bridgeport Hospital will offer free blood pressure screenings at the Baldwin Center, 1000 West Broad St., Stratford, on Monday, Aug. 12, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. For information, call 1.888.357.2396.

Matinee Showing of Life of Pi at the Stratford Library: Cool off, bring a bag lunch and enjoy recent popular movies presented during the day. Starts at noon in the library's Lovell Room. Free to attend.

Tuesday

Teen Tuesday Grand Finale at the Stratford Library: Experience the talents of your friends in an evening of performance, food and fun plus the announcement of the Summer Reading Program prizes: the limo ride middle school and high school winners and the drawing for the winners of the five gift baskets.

Park City Toastmasters Club Meeting: Park City Toastmasters is an open group of members wanting to become better speakers and gain confidence for anything from being able to ace a job interview, network with business associates or give a speech or presentation to a large audience. Group meets every Tuesday evening at Lord Chamberlain Nursing Facility, 7003 Main St., Stratford. Free and open to everyone.

Saturday

ShakesBeer Festival: The ShakesBeer Festival is a benefit to raise money for the re-opening of The American Shakespeare Theater. The event includes beer from all of Connecticut's Craft Breweries. Food from Vazzy's, Cowabunga, Paradise Island and more. Entertainment from Javier Colon, Stratford native and winner of The Voice. Also local band CRUNCH will perform. Tickets are available at Wines Unlimited and Captains Keg. And online at tickets.beerfests.com
