Free IRS/AARP Tax Preparation Services

New Location and Process Changes This Year Due to COVID-19 Restrictions

Free tax preparation and electronic filing of tax returns are being provided by the IRS/AARP Tax-Aide Program for area residents at a new location this year. Changes to our process have been implemented as a result of COVID-19 restrictions. There will be no in-person meeting with tax preparers. Service will be provided by appointment only on Mondays and Tuesdays from February 16 through April 13 at our new location, the South Side Community Center, 19 Bates Street, Stratford. IMPORTANT: Prior to your appointment, taxpayers will need to complete an Intake/Interview Sheet (Form 13614-C), which can be picked up at the Community Center or at the Stratford Library.

On the day of your appointment, taxpayers will drop off the completed intake/interview sheet and the following items:

· A photo ID and contact number

· Means to verify Social Security numbers of the taxpayer (and dependents, if any)

· All 2020 tax documents

· A copy of last year's tax return, if available

· A blank check (to verify bank routing/account numbers), if expecting a refund

When your tax return is completed and available for pick up, you will be notified. All documents you provide to complete your tax return will be returned to you with your tax return copy.
