Lane Closures Set For Route 110 In Stratford, Shelton
The closures are happening while crews install rumble strips on just under 4 miles of road.
STRATFORD, CT — Drivers in Stratford and Shelton should plan for nighttime lane closures on Route 110 in the coming days, while the Connecticut Department of Transportation installs centerline rumble strips.
The project consists of the installation of strips on just under 4 miles of road in Stratford and Shelton, according to an email from department spokesman Kevin J. Nursick. Work is scheduled to occur 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday through Tuesday.
Drivers can expect lane closures on the road from Route 113 to 575 feet south of the Route 15 northbound ramps in Stratford and from 250 feet south of Pine Tree Trail in Stratford to Rocky Rest Road in Shelton.

The work will be performed using a moving operation with intermittent lane closures.
"Please use caution around this operation as these vehicles will be moving slower than posted speeds and when possible move over to provide them a buffer lane during work activity," the email said.

Modifications or extensions to the work schedule may be necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Drivers are advised to maintain a safe speed in the vicinity of the work.
Rumble strips are a proven safety countermeasure and will help to minimize lane-departure crashes, according to the email, which said the strips will alert drivers through noise and vibration should their vehicle veer off into an opposing lane of traffic.
