Like Local History? Become a Perry House Docent!

Stratford's own Perry House is recruiting people to be docents.

The following was originally an announcement posted on Stratford Patch.

Do you like local history? Do you enjoy working with children? Are you looking for a volunteer activity?

Stratford's own Perry House is recruiting people to be docents. Docents in costumes discuss colonial life and events with third- and fifth-graders during interactive tours through one of Stratford's oldest houses (c. 1690).

Docents may also participate in other educational and entertaining activities, including the holiday program, “A Visit with Mrs. Claus,” Sunday-afternoon tours, family fun workshops and a pilot program of in-school visits.

The Perry House provides training in docent techniques and local history, as well as costumes; there is no minimum time commitment. New docent training will begin in mid September 2013.

Please contact Jamie Johnson, Education Coordinator, at 203.37PERRY or perryhouse1128@sbcglobal.net for more information about our docent corps.
