Stratford Resident Wins Award
Theresa Manus Wins Special Education Art Educator Award

During the annual Connecticut Art Education Association Awards on May 6, 2018, Stratford resident and Shelton School teacher, Theresa Manus, was awarded the CAEA's 2018 Special Education Art Educator Award.
Ms. Manus, who is a teacher at Long Hill School in Shelton, was nominated by Le Ann Hinkle, President-elect of the CAEA and awarded by the Awards Committee for her work with students, and research focused on students with disabilities.
Ms. Manus has been a certified art teacher in grades k-12 for 13 years and has been a teacher for 19 years. She has taught art to k-4 children at Long Hill School for 8 years.

As an appointed member of the Stratford Arts Commission and the Stratford Democratic Town Committee, she advocates for arts immersion.
When Theresa Manus was asked how she felt about winning this award she stated, " I am so honored to be recognized by my colleagues at the state level. Winning this award is a testimony to my daily work, bringing the arts to all people, regardless of their abilities, to improve all of our lives and community experiences. Thank you to my family and friends for supporting my vision."
