
Once again Stratford teachers will be facing uncertainty come July 1st.
Today Stratford Public School teachers were sent an email from the SEA (Stratford education association) union informing them that the Board of Education will be sending out "non-renewal notices".
This Monday the BOE will issue this notice to all SEA members who have not attained tenure.

While this is common practice in many other towns, it is not in Stratford.
This move will enable non-tenured techers to collect unemployment for the summer but it also leaves uncertainty in postitions. Unless a teacher gets an offer of a job by the Stratford BOE, they will face a permanent layoff.

Update: Board of Education Chairman Eric Lazaro and Superintendent Janet Robinson have issued a statement.
On Friday April 27th in the evening, Stratford Public Schools Superintendent and Board Of Education Chairman Eric Lazaro issued the following statement to members of the SEA:

"The school system is required by state law to notify members by May 1st if there is a possibility of layoffs."
