No Trash Pickup, Town Offices Close: Stratford Readies For Storm

The town of Stratford is taking several measures in anticipation of the projected snowfall Wednesday and Thursday.

STRATFORD, CT — With a winter storm warning issued for the entire state, snow is expected to fall throughout Wednesday evening and overnight, with up to 40 mph winds. Accumulation is estimated between 8 and 16 inches.

In preparation for the storm, the town of Stratford issued the following notices in a news release:

Town office schedules

All town offices will be closed Thursday to in-person visits and appointments. Offices will remain open via remote operation, and personnel will be available by phone or email.

Trash collection

In consideration of the impending winter storm, there will be no refuse collection Thursday. Collections that normally take place Thursday will take place Friday, and collections scheduled for Friday will take place Saturday.

Parking ban

In anticipation of inclement winter weather beginning Wednesday, the town is instituting a parking ban effective 8 a.m. Thursday until 8 a.m. Friday, to facilitate snow removal. Residents should park on the odd-numbered side of the street.

Power outages

While the snow is expected to be dry and is not expected to accumulate and weigh on power lines, those who experience a power outage should report it to United Illuminating Co. at uinet.com or 1-800-722-5584.
