Obituary: Mary Margaret Cotter Haslob, 95
Mary was a wonderful wife, homemaker, and mother of five sons who always kept her on her toes.

Mary Margaret Cotter Haslob of Stratford, age 95, passed away at St. Joseph’s Manor, Trumbull, on Thursday Oct. 31, 2013 after a brief stay.
Mary was born in White Plains, N.Y., on Sept. 9, 1918, the daughter of David and Helen Cotter.
A graduate of White Plains High School Class of 1935, she married her high school sweetheart and moved to the area in 1942 where she resided in Bridgeport and then moved to Stratford.
Mary was a wonderful wife, homemaker, and mother of five sons who always kept her on her toes. After her youngest finished high school and entered the Army, Mary went on to work for D.M. Reads Department Store in Trumbull and retired in 1982.
She loved to cook and entertain and always went all out when the family or friends would gather at home. A great seamstress and gardener, she loved her shrubs and plants and always had a green thumb and could get anything to grow.
Mary and her husband were devout parishioners of Our Lady of Grace Parish and belonged to the Seniors Group along with the Moore Special Tool Seniors Group and enjoyed many trips and excursions around the country.
Mary had many friends and was the designated driver any time they got together to go to their many favorite restaurants and theaters, Mary did the driving until she celebrated her 90th birthday.
She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Christian Haslob Sr., her son Christian Jr., daughter-in-law Josephine, brother David and wife Nancy of N.Y., sisters Virginia and husband Wayne of Okla., Helen and husband Bud of Fla.
Survivors include her son Robert and wife Elaine of Monroe, son Donald and wife Kelly of Colo., Richard of Stratford, Gary and wife Patricia of N.C., daughter-in-law Mary of Miss., and 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, and her friends Marie and Eileen of Stratford.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 9 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m.
