Obituary: Robert C. Ritchie, 78, of Stratford

Bob worked as an engineer for many years and served as President and owner of R.C. Ritchie Yacht Sales at Stratford Marina.

STRATFORD, CT - (From Pistey Funeral Home) Robert C. Ritchie, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 10, 2021.

He was born in Bridgeport, CT on September 18, 1942 to his late parents, Charles and Dorothy (Mahan) Ritchie.

Bob is survived by his sister, Carol (Kalakay) Sedelnik and her husband, Peter, and nieces and nephew and their children.

Bob will be truly missed and forever loved by his significant other for 22 years, Audrey Terry of Waterford, CT, and her children and grandchildren.

Bob also leaves behind many long-lasting friendships and neighbors.

Bob loved his country and proudly served in the Army Reserves for six years. He was a true Patriot. Bob started his Engineering career at U. S. Baird Corporation, Stratford, CT and worked at Scott & Fetzer Co., and ended his career in Engineering at BIF Manufacturing Co. in Rhode Island where he was Vice President of Manufacturing until they closed.

He was later President and owner of R.C. Ritchie Yacht Sales at Stratford Marina, Stratford, CT. Bob loved to boat on LI Sound, had his Captain’s License, and was an avid fisherman having fished in many tournaments in the past years.

He was an avid “S” Gauge train collector and belong to the CT “S” Gauge Train Club and the National Association of Train Collectors.

He also was a Corvette car enthusiast having owned several Corvettes throughout his life. He proudly built a 1940 Ford Roadster car back in the 60’s which he cherished.

A prayer service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday April 17, 2021 at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford, CT. Burial in the family plot at Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport will be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
