Obituary: Stephen M. Hudak Sr., 95, of Stratford

Stephen, a dedicated family man, was an employee of the U.S. Post Office for over 40 years and U.S. Navy WWII veteran.

STRATFORD, CT - (From Adzima Funeral Home) Stephen M. Hudak Sr., age 95, of Stratford, beloved husband of Barbara Welytok Hudak, passed away on May 15, 2021 in Bridgeport Hospital.

Steve was born in Stratford on April 14, 1926 to the late Michael and Caroline (Norko) Hudak and had been a lifelong Stratford resident.

He was a graduate of Stratford High School and was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was an employee of the U.S. Post Office for over 40 years. Steve was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, UConn Woman’s Basketball, and NASCAR.

He was an overall family man, loved gardening, and spending his time at the racetrack with his grandchildren.

Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 68 years, include his devoted children, Stephen M. Hudak Jr. and his wife Kathy of Shelton, and Gail Vidmosko and her husband Michael of Stratford, 2 cherished grandchildren, Stephen M. Hudak III, and Kailee Hudak, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Steve was pre-deceased by his sister, Mary D. Pavliscak.

A walk-through visitation period will be held on Thursday, May 20th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Guests are asked to wear face masks and socially distance as they enter the building, pay their respects, and exit in order to allow others the same opportunity.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, May 21st at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mark’s Church Stratford. Interment with full military honors will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford.
