Outdoor Market Planned For Stratford's Shakespeare Theater Site

Called The Shakespeare Market, the bi-monthly Stratford event will feature vendors and activities supported by community partners.

STRATFORD, CT — Plans are underway to bring an open-air market to the grounds of Stratford’s Shakespeare theater in January.

Called The Shakespeare Market, the bi-monthly event will feature vendors and activities supported by community partners, according to the market’s website.

Stratford was once home to the American Shakespeare Festival Theatre, but the venue sat, mostly empty, for decades before it was destroyed in a fire two years ago. Talks are ongoing among town officials and community members about how best to use the property in the long term.
