Prostitution Sting at Stratford Hotel Nets Three

An undercover operation into alleged prostitution at a Stratford hotel last week resulted in the arrests of two women and their supposed “manager.”

The sting – carried out at the Stratford Hotel and Conference Center – started with an undercover detective responding to an online post that offered two women for a fee of $350, Stratford police Lt. Frank Eannotti said in a statement.

The detective contacted the women and set up a meeting at the hotel on Lordship Boulevard, Eannotti said. Once inside the room, the detective and assisting officers located the two women as well as their “manager” and an infant child, the police spokesman said.

Additionally, there was evidence of recent drug use and officers located “some marijuana” in the room, Eannotti said.

The women, Candice Janton, 20, of Dayville, Conn., and Kayla Walter, 21, of Garrison, Ky., were charged with prostitution, risk of injury to a minor and possession of marijuana.

The man identified as the manager, Edward Thomas, 38, of New York City, was charged with promoting prostitution, risk of injury to a minor and possession of marijuana.

Janton and Walter were held in lieu of $5,000 bond and are due to appear in court Oct. 24. Thomas was held in lieu of $50,000 bond and is also due to appear in court on Thursday.
