Sikorsky Gets $550 Million Helicopter Contract From Navy
The six CH-53K King Stallion helicopters will be delivered in January 2024.
STRATFORD, CT — Stratford-based Sikorsky has received an approximately $550 million contract from the U.S. Navy to build six CH-53K King Stallion helicopters, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
The aircraft will support the U.S. Marine Corps in its transportation of armored vehicles, equipment and personnel inland from a sea-based operation center, according to a news release published Oct. 28 from Lockheed Martin, Sikorsky’s parent company.
"The production of this CH-53K helicopter represents a new era in capabilities, technologies, safety and mission flexibility for the U.S. Marine Corps,” said Bill Falk, Sikorsky CH-53K program director, in the news release. “Sikorsky is committed to supporting the Marine Corps to maximize the benefits of this all new helicopter."

A total of 24 CH-53K aircraft are under contract. Sikorsky has five of the helicopters on production lines in Connecticut and will begin delivery of the aircraft in September 2021.
The six helicopters most recently ordered will be delivered in January 2024.
