STRATFORD, CT — A staff member’s car was stolen from the Stratford High School parking lot on Tuesday, according to officials.

Officials believe a gray BMW sports utility vehicle drove past the school’s parking lot, then turned around and entered the campus.

“They stopped to see if a car was open before driving up towards CVS but before leaving, they stopped and backed up to check another car,” Stratford High School Principal Jack Dellapiano wrote in a message to the school community. “It was unlocked and was stolen.”

Officials worked with the staff member and the school resource officer and, thanks to an internal tracking device, the car was believed to be found in the Waterbury area, according to Dellapiano.

The BMW had no license plate on the front and the back was covered by a black screen.
