STRATFORD, CT — Sterling House Community Center is holding a back-to-school giveaway later this month, according to an email from the community center. The event will take place 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 24 at Sterling House, 2283 Main St. Uniform shirts, backpacks and school supplies will be available for students in grades kindergarten through six. Free hot dogs and popsicles will be served. Community swim will be offered for $1 per swimmer. Attendees are asked to bring proof of Stratford school attendance in the form of a report card or letter. Sterling House is accepting used school uniforms in good condition through Aug. 24.
