Stratford Cheer Teams Going To Nationals

STRATFORD, CT — Several Stratford youth sports teams are bound for the national championships — but they need a little help from the community to get there. Three Stratford Pop Warner Cheer teams are seeking sponsors after they qualified to compete for a national title at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, according to a Pop Warner news release.

The Junior Varsity team won the regional championship title earlier this month at the New England Region Cheer & Dance Championships in Lowell, Massachusetts, while the Junior Pee Wee and Mighty Mite teams each took home the second place title. The Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Championships will take place Dec. 7 to Dec. 14.

The season is still ongoing for Stratford's 12U Pop Warner Football team, but the team is undefeated so far and may also have a chance to compete for the national championship at Disney World.

"The girls & boys worked hard over this past season and proved that hard work pays off," the news release said. "Stratford Pop Warner wants each of the kids on these teams to experience the 'magic' at Disney and the excitement during National Competition held at the ESPN Zone."

Stratford Pop Warner is asking local businesses to participate in a tiered sponsorship program in which a business' logo or name will be listed on the back of the Disney competition T-shirt. Sponsors will also be promoted on Stratford Pop Warner's Facebook page.
