STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford chicken wing restaurant is having a busy week, with a ribbon cutting Tuesday and a free wing promotion Wednesday.

Wing It On! opened its Stratford location last month at 1641 Barnum Ave. Town officials joined restaurant staff at the eatery for Tuesday’s event.

“Please join me in welcoming ‘Wing It On!’ and owner Muhammad U. Kahn to Stratford!” Mayor Laura Hoydick said in a tweet, noting the restaurant’s Buffalo sauces, crispy wings and chicken sandwiches.

Wing It On! also has restaurants in Waterbury and New Britain. The Stratford location is Usman’s first venture into the restaurant industry. He also owns and operates the convenience store next door to the Stratford eatery.

In addition to Tuesday’s ribbon cutting, all Wing It On! restaurants will celebrate National Chicken Wing Day on Wednesday, meaning customers get six wings free with a purchase of 12 wings. National Chicken Wing Day is recognized by many national chains, as well as local restaurants, in the form of wing-related promotions, according to USA Today.
