Stratford Pop Warner Team To Compete In National Championship

STRATFORD, CT — A Stratford Pop Warner football team will be competing for a National Championship starting this weekend in the 63rd annual Pop Warner Super Bowl.

The U12 Stratford Redskins will play the Rockton Rebels of Illinois on Sunday in the first round of competition, according to an email from public relations agency CTP Boston. The Redskins need to win three games to earn a National Championship title during the tournament, which runs Dec. 7 to Dec. 14 at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

The team won the State Championship earlier in the season, defeating New Milford, 41-0, according to the Stratford Pop Warner website. Also competing in the Pop Warner Super Bowl from Connecticut are the U14 Hartford Hurricanes and the Division II Pee Wee Bridgeport Raiders.
