Stratford’s 4th Of July Fireworks Return For 2021
Officials announce parking and traffic patterns for the fireworks display, which returns after being canceled last year due to COVID-19.

STRATFORD, CT — Stratford’s Fourth of July fireworks display will return after being canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, Mayor Laura R. Hoydick announced Thursday.
The fireworks display will take place at sundown, around 9 p.m., on Thursday, July 1 at Short Beach.
“We are excited to have this great Stratford tradition return,” Hoydick said in a statement. “I hope residents and their families will view the fireworks from their favorite spot as we come together to celebrate our nation’s birth.”

Parking will be available for vehicles with Stratford resident parking stickers at Short Beach Park and at the Stratford Army Engine Plant lot after 4 p.m. ahead of the event (current year stickers are valid through July 15). Those with non-resident stickers will not be permitted in these lots, according to a news release.
The rain date for the event is Friday, July 2.

The following traffic pattern will be used to exit Lordship after the fireworks:
- All traffic exiting the parking lots of the Stratford Army Engine Plant, traffic will be directed North on Main St.
- Vehicles exiting Short Beach will be directed to use both lanes of Dorne Drive to exit the parking lot. NO TRAFFIC WILL GO NORTH onto Stratford Road/Main Street.
- The north or right lane (blue arrow) will be directed to up to Stratford Road then left onto Stratford Road, then right on to Prospect Drive, then left on Oak Bluff and fully turn right on Lordship Boulevard.
- The South or left lane (red arrow) will be directed to turn left on Short Beach Road. Right on Lighthouse Avenue. Right on Prospect Drive, left on Stratford Road. Straight on Lordship Boulevard in the EASTBOUND lane of Lordship Boulevard.
Residents will be allowed to enter Lordship until the start of the fireworks. Lordship Boulevard will be closed to eastbound traffic from Access Road to Oak Bluff Avenue until traffic flow returns to normal.
IMPORTANT!!!! There will be NO VEHICULAR ACCESS into Lordship for about 90 minutes, while Short Beach Park is being emptied. It is strongly advised that Lordship residents and anyone looking to come into Lordship plan accordingly.
