Stratford School Temporarily Switches To Remote Learning

Officials reported confirmed cases of the coronavirus and said one school would operate remotely Friday due to staffing concerns.

STRATFORD, CT — Flood Middle School in Stratford will be operating remotely on Friday due to staffing concerns and ongoing contact tracing of coronavirus cases, officials announced Thursday.

The school district notified community members in an email of the following confirmed coronavirus cases:

Lordship Elementary - 1 positive case, close contacts have been notified. As reported earlier Thursday to Lordship Families, Ms. Grandfield and Mrs. Pillow's classrooms will be working remotely for the next fourteen days while in quarantine.

Franklin Elementary - 1 positive case, no close contacts.

Flood Middle School - 1 positive case, and 2 presumptive positive cases, contact tracing will continue and all close contacts will have been notified by Friday morning, according to officials.

“The affected persons have been instructed to remain home in self-isolation for 10 calendar days and have been provided with additional instructions to follow prior to returning to school and work,” officials wrote in the email. “Family members have also been instructed to self-quarantine (this is 14 days from exposure) and get tested.

“Anyone who is considered a ‘close contact’ will be contacted by our school nurses and staff. They will provide instructions on the appropriate steps to take regarding quarantine and when to return to school or work.”
