Boy Scouts of America – Pack 172, based out of Stratford United Methodist Church, held their annual Pinewood Derby event on Saturday, March, 16th, 2019 .

The Pinewood Derby is a racing event in which scouts build un-powered cars from blocks of wood, plastic wheels, and metal axles. The cars run on a standardized track and are powered only by gravity. The Derby event is run by chapters (called “Packs”) of the Cub Scout Program of the Boy Scouts of America and often serve as one of the major events of the year.

This year Pack 172 had a total of 27 scouts who built and entered cars into this years derby, and the event as a whole was a great success. Each car has to pass through registration where it is measured and weighed to make sure it meets national regulations.
